Gerald Anderson & Kim Chiu Breaks Down at the Presscon of their Movie

Is Kris Aquino the Next MTRCB Chief?

MANILA, Philippines—I asked MTRCB chair Marissa Laguardia in “Paparazzi” if she approves of Kris Aquino, who’s rumored to be her successor, I was floored when she shot back, “Ikaw gusto mo ba si Kris ang pumalit sa akin?” That brought the house down.

“Whoever President Noy appoints, I will respect his choice and give the next chair my full support,” she said.

What are her sentiments about the court’s decision on MTRCB’s case with ABS-CBN’s “Showtime?”

And we will keep a watchful eye so ingat sila.”

As my ma used to say, “Careful careful!”

Ogie Diaz to Marry Female Partner Mirasol

Gay television host and entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz and his long-time female partner, Mirasol, are planning to get married soon.

Diaz said he is just waiting for the right time to exchange "I do" with the mother of his 4 children.

"Naka-plano yan. May paniniwala lang ako sa buhay, feeling ko lahat lang ng nararamdaman ko kailangan timing kaya kahit 10 years na kami ng aking dyowa, tignan mo kami pa din naman," Diaz said after he signed a one-year contract with ABS-CBN.

He also said they need an ample time to prepare for a simple and solemn wedding.

Diaz, who had his first TV appearance on the popular sitcom "Palibhasa Lalake," is a father to Erin, 9; Godhie, 6; Georgina, 2; and Cory, 1.

Diaz defends Vice Ganda
Meantime, Diaz, also a talent manager, disputed reports that his ward, "Showtime" resident judge and comedian Vice Ganda, has an attitude problem.

Pero ako ang makakapansin niyan dahil 23 years na ako in the business. So, mas malalaman ko kung lumalaki na ang ulo niya," Diaz said.

Diaz said he will be the first one to call Vice Ganda’s attention if indeed fame has gotten into his head.

Unknown to many, Diaz said Vice Ganda has made adjustments for the sake of his career.

So, kailangan niya ding mag-adjust.

Kim Chiu: I did not attempt to commit suicide

MANILA, Philippines - Young actress Kim Chiu has blasted speculations about her supposed attempt to commit suicide following her break-up with rumored boyfriend and on-screen partner Gerald Anderson.

In an interview with weekly entertainment show “The Buzz,” Chiu stressed that she would never harm herself. She also pointed out that it is a foolish thing to do.

And may pinagagawa akong bahay, dream [house] ko, sinong magtatapos noon?" Chiu, the breadwinner of her family, said.

Reports about Chiu's alleged attempt to commit suicide have spread like wildfire in the Internet almost 2 months ago. The reports came out amid Chiu and Gerald Anderson’s repeated assertions that they never became a couple.

In her “The Buzz” interview, the actress failed to directly address the break-up issue, but she said the actor is a good person.

Katulad ko masaya naman ako ngayon,” she said.

Anderson has been the subject of nasty comments after rumors about his supposed split with Chiu cropped up.

He is also being romantically linked to Bea Alonzo.

When asked to comment on Anderson-Alonzo’s purported budding romance, Chiu said: "Magandang lalaki si Gerald, aminin natin 'yon.

She has nothing against Alonzo, the young actress also maintained.

Chiu, Anderson and Alonzo are mainstays of musical variety show “ASAP XV,” but Chiu and Alonzo are not close friends.

Parang ibang circle of friends nila sa ‘ASAP.’ Nagbabatian kami, okay naman po kami," she said.

Chiu also disclosed that she got deeply hurt recently, but she refused to divulge the reason or say if it is connected to the Anderson-Alonzo issue.

"Hindi naman ako robot [na] walang pakiramdam… Sa akin na lang ‘yon, sa sarili ko na lang kung anuman 'yon," the actress said.

Chiu and Anderson recently starred in hit television series "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo." They are now gearing up for their reunion movie, Star Cinema’s "Till My Heartaches End."

Anne Curtis reacts to Liz Uy-PNoy 'romance'

MANILA, Philippines – Celebrity stylist Liz Uy is laughing off rumors romantically linking her to President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, her close friend said Monday.

During the renewal of her contract with ABS-CBN, "Showtime" host Anne Curtis told abs-cbnNEWS.com that the Aquino-Uy supposed romance is an old issue, and Uy has long been aware of the spreading speculations.

"Hindi ba matagal na yon? Matagal na naman 'yon. Siyempre hindi maiiwasan na she's on the team with everyone, with Paul Cabral, with Juan (Sarte). And I think it's understandable kung mali-link kasi ganoon nga, pero wala, it's all part of the business," Curtis said.

Uy, Preview Magazine's fashion editor-at-large, is part of a team that takes care of the President’s wardrobe and looks. She is also a close friend and stylist of the President's youngest sister, actress-television host Kris Aquino.
Curtis also said she sees nothing wrong if the 50-year-old bachelor President will fall in love with Uy, who is now unattached.

Uy used to date actor John Lloyd Cruz. Aquino, on the other hand, was reported to have broken up with Valenzuela City councilor Shalani Soledad, his girlfriend of more than a year.

Curtis said: "If ever it should happen, of course naman, Presidente natin ‘yan, hindi ba?"

The actress said she does not know how Uy would react if she finds out that the issue is being resurrected. She said her celebrity stylist friend is currently confined at a hospital due to food poisoning.

"I don't know kung nakarating na sa kanya. Actually, ngayon lang na bring-up ulit," Curtis said.

New contract
Curtis, one of ABS-CBN’s brightest stars, renewed her one-year contract with the Kapamilya network.
Under her new contract, Curtis is set to do 2 television series, including “Green Rose.” In “Green Rose,” she will star opposite Jericho Rosales.

She will also continue to be part of musical variety show “ASAP XV” and afternoon program “Showtime.”
Contrary to speculations, Curtis said she has never received any offer from rival networks.

On Mariel Rodriguez issue
Meanwhile, for the first time, Curtis broke her silence on Mariel Rodriguez- Toni Gonzaga rift.

Rumor has it that Curtis was the one who told Gonzaga that Rodriguez was badmouthing her.

But Curtis clarified that she has nothing to do with the issue, stressing that her friendships with the two female stars are okay.

"Hindi ako ‘yon, ang masasabi ko… I'd rather stay out of it. Basta ako okay ako kay Mariel, okay ako kay Toni, okay ako kay (Luis) Manzano. So, out ako diyan," Curtis said.

Rodriguez and Manzano are also not on speaking terms, but Manzano declined to reveal the reason behind their misunderstanding.

'Star Power' to dominate Sunday's primetime block

MANILA, Philippines – The long wait for the Megafans is almost over as multi-awarded Megastar Sharon Cuneta leads the launch of her newest show “Star Power, Sharon’s Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar” on Sunday, October 10.

The show’s concept is to empower 20 young female contestants from all over the country to maximize their own potentials, develop their talents and improve their skills.

All of them will undergo Cuneta’s thorough training.

At the end of the competition, the board of judges, composed of actor/director Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, comedienne Mitch Valdes and singer/TV host Billy Crawford, will choose one female pop superstar.
Pop Prince Erik Santos and Asia’s Idol Christian Bautista will co-host “Star Power.”

In an interview, Santos and Bautista both shared their excitement over their first-ever hosting stint for a talent search. Both of them are products of ABS-CBN’s defunct talent search show, “Star in a Million.”

"It's like a full circle. It's a great honor and it's a privilege kasi, in a way. Alam namin 'yung pinagdadaanan nila. Alam namin kung paano sila tutulungan at susuportahan," Bautista said.

Celebrating his birthday on the show’s premiere, Santos, on the other hand, wishes "Star Power" to have high ratings on Sunday.

"My birthday wish is, siyempre, mataas na ratings ng aming show, ang 'Star Power'. Siyempre parating good health, more projects… Ay, love life pa pala. Hahahaha! I want a love na magla-last," Santos shared.

The two also revealed that they have been rigidly preparing for the show as much as the 20 female contenders do.

"For this one, nag-research ako sa hosting ng isang contest like this one. At least meron kang paggagayahan, meron kang model. Tiningnan ko rin pati 'yung hosting sa 'Star in a Million' before," Santos said.

Meanwhile, Santos and Bautista advised the young hopefuls to be strong, humble, and God-fearing enough to face the challenges in the competition.

With the hosts and contestants already geared up, “Star Power” is now ready to dominate Sunday’s Primetime block. It will be shown on ABS-CBN after “Going Bulilit.”

Judy Ann’s first interview after giving birth to baby Lucho

Kris Aquino and Sons Diagnosed with Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease

At around nine this evening, PEP decided to look in again on Kris Aquino. Entertainment editor Jo-Ann Maglipon, who had only just found out, sent her a text message asking how she was doing with this latest virus that has hit her family.

Kris's textback essentially said what she had shared in her Twitter, but added: "I don't have the mouth sores but got the highest fever—nag 40 last night. Still in the 38.5 range now. We r quarantined until Oct. 15. Highly contagious especially for kids. I guess my immunity is still that of a child's. Can't get out of bed, all my bones hurt & throbbing headache."

Jo-Ann texted back to say everything seems to be happening to her! Thankfully, Jo-Ann added, she has very caring siblings.

Kris's response: "Feeling guilty kasi when I was feverish & chilling in the Dagupan Cathedral, Ate [Ballsy] & Viel were making me siksik and rubbing my arms because grabe my goosebumps. And we rode 1 car together.

"All our PSG & yayas r also naka immunosin & Zovirax. We're in isolation until Oct. 15. I have different strain—no mouth sores or rashes in my feet so our doctor not sure what strain I got. Plus adults normally not nahahawa, except me."

When asked if her short text messages could be shared with PEP readers who may want an update on her condition, Kris texted back: "Sure Jo-Ann. My sisters all said yearly basis we go through something. Last year it was dengue. This  year foot & mouth. Sad lang that Josh is separated from us in his room because I still have high fever & Bimby has low grade fever. Baka he'll get binat... Too much togetherness kaming mga mag-mama."

Finally, when asked if there was any special comfort food she might want that PEP could get her, Kris said, "Having a hard time swallowing, so just drinking small glasses of milk—that's kasi zero taste buds. Thanks Jo-Ann. Good night."

HOURS EARLIER, PEP HAD WRITTEN: Kris Aquino and her two sons Joshua, 15, and Baby James, 3, have been diagnosed with hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD), a viral illness with symptoms of high fever, mouth sores, and rashes on the hands and feet.

The 39-year-old TV host and actress broke the news through her official Twitter account (@itsmekrisaquino) on Thursday afternoon, October 7. She said she and her sons have been placed in isolation for one week, while they are under medication to treat the virus.

She sent her first tweet around 2 p.m.: "We r all sick. Josh caught foot & mouth disease. Nahawa Bimby & me. I don't have the sores around the mouth or the rashes sa hands & feet but my fever went up to 40 last night. We r all taking Zoverax & Immunosin. Ang tibay the 3 yayas, Yaya A, Gerbel & Ruby. Di sila nahawa. Rare daw for an adult to get hawa but u know me–lapitin ng sakit. Naka isolate kami for at least 1 week."

The second tweet: "Bimby & I r in 1 room since we still both have fever–kuya's in his room because he's pagaling na. If we have contact w/ him baka mabinat sya. Last night grabe–they iced na my feet & head because fever was 40. We're not allowed to leave our condo til next weekend."

On her last tweet, she asked the public for prayers. The third tweet said: "Thank God my 2 sons r able to eat even just a bit. Me, lantang gulay. Now nag chi-chills again. Fever nasa 38.8. At night diba tumataas again? Sleep na ko. Pray for my kids to be healthy soon, please?"

WHAT IS HFMD? According to the website of Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), a government agency in the U. S. that provides medical information to the public, the hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a common and contagious viral disease that often infects infants and young children.

The CDCP said HFMD is a minor illness that causes only a few days of fever, sore throat, lesions in the mouth, rashes, and loss of appetite.

HFMD is not related to the foot-and-mouth disease that commonly infects farm animals.

The illness, caused by the coxsackievirus, can be spread by nose and throat secretions, saliva, blister fluid, and stool of infected persons. The virus is most often spread by persons with unwashed, virus-contaminated hands and by contact with virus-contaminated surfaces, the CDCP added.

The Center states that there is no specific treatment for HFMD. To prevent infection, individuals are advised to practice good hygiene, such as frequent hand-washing, cleaning of dirty and soiled surfaces, and avoiding contact with people infected with HFMD.

Court defers action on Willie's new show

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Friday morning deferred action on the petition filed by ABS-CBN Corporation seeking to prevent its former host Willie Revillame from hosting an upcoming show on TV5.

According to ABS-CBN's lawyer Maxim Uy, no temporary restraining order (TRO) was decided during Friday's hearing.

Uy said that the motion was submitted for the judge to study, and it will be decided after October 15.

The lawyer said that if Revillame decides to go on with his new show anytime before October 15, then they can't do anything.

Revillame said he's thankful to ABS-CBN Chairman Gabby Lopez Jr. and President Charo Santos-Concio for giving him the break as a host, but he now wants to work for a network that wants him.

On Tuesday, the Kapamilya network asked the Quezon City RTC to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) and a writ of preliminary injunction to stop Revillame “from committing further violations to his contract with the network” by launching “Willing Willie.”

The new show will reportedly air on October 23 at prime time.

On Friday's hearing, Revillame arrived at the Quezon City RTC at around 9 a.m. and was greeted by some of his fans. He was with his lawyers and entertainment writer-host Lolit Solis.

The judge in the hearing was Luisito Cortez, who inhibited himself from trying the murder case filed against Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr. regarding the Maguindanao massacre last year.

 'All about honoring contract'

In response to the court's decision, ABS-CBN said its "application for TRO has been submitted for resolution of the Judge, who ordered both parties to file all pleadings by Oct 15, after which he shall decide on the application."

"ABS-CBN reiterates that the issue on Willie Revillame is all about honoring a contract. To the Kapamilya network, it is the ethical and right thing to do.  It is a noble act of a person who values honesty and integrity," the network said.

"So when Willie chose to ignore his contract with ABS-CBN, we were left with no choice but to ask the court to intervene. We have not been negligent in reminding Willie about his contract obligations and when he asked for the rescission of his contract, ABS-CBN chose to apply for a TRO and fight for what is right and honorable," ABS-CBN said.
